Unable to start truck, tried jumping it but not even a click. Other electrical accessories work, radio, wipers, fan, etc.

I used the search function and checked the clutch safety switch, tried spare starter relay, starter fuse in PDC, all OK. Whacked the starter with a hammer, cussed it real good#@$%! and whacked some more; no dice.

What next?

The fuel shut-off solenoid doesn't lift when I turn the ignition on, but stays up when I lift it manually. Truck still won't crank, though.

Check the female terminals where you plug in the relay they mite be spread out to much.

If they are OK pull starter and check starter solenoid contacts. If bad you can order heavy duty ones from LarryB's Dodge starting problems solved here. .

If contacts are good take starter to auto electric shop and have tested.

Fuel shut off solenoid check for blue wire comming off positive post on battery if OK it is probably the fuel shut off solenoid relay. Located above engine on the lip of cowl/firewall it is the larger of the two hanging there. Go to good electrical shop to purchase new relay. Get one that will handle at least 75 amps.

Thanks for the replies bigdaddydieseldan and Missouri Mule (did you get your truck started Missouri Mule?) but let me throw in a little twist.

I jumpered a hot wire from positive terminal to the small terminal on the starter after manually holding up the fuel shut-off solenoid until it held; started right up! Oo. Gotta be the starter relay, right? Plus a fuel solenoid relay that went bad at the same time???

I drove it 100 miles home without a problem, shut it down in my driveway, tried it again and it won't start; no surprise.

I used the key fob to lock it and the parking lights that normally flash when I lock it don't flash.

I have the Mopar EVS II alarm system (came with the truck; I didn't do it) that disables the starting circuit to keep the truck from being stolen. Do I have yet another thing broken on my truck or is this how the alarm keeps my truck from being started and stolen?

I have Larry B's starter contacts along with the starter diode and spare fusible wire, all in the box so they won't wear out. They go in this week. But, what about this EVS II Model POS alarm system; is that the problem?

Anyone here know about the alarm system?

Yes I got my truck started when the a female terminal (power terminal to relay) spread apart a liitle to much. I tried a new relay it started once but not the next time so I decided to investigate a little more when I saw the terminal spread out I took a small screwdriver and closed the gap a little.

Sorry don't know about your securtiy system.

I finally got around to getting back under the hood to sort this out. I closed the female terminals to the starter relay; still wouldn't start. Replaced the fuel shutoff relay with a Larry B unit that came in the mail today; still no cranky. I noticed the status light for the alarm was out and figured some fuse was blown somewhere leading to a power outage to the alarm.

I dug up the installation instructions for the alarm (thank you previous owner for not throwing them away) and found an alarm override method; started right up. Oo.

I took the alarm wiring loose and removed the module, looked along the wiring harness under the dash and found an inline fuse holder with a blown 20 amp fuse.

Back in business now. Thanks for all the help.
