My friend has a 97 2500 gas truck. Today, his truck wouldn't start. Headlights are bright, but no click or anything when the key is turned. Any ideas???
Clean battery terminals and check inside battery cable insulation at battery end, I have seen corrosion inside so bad the cable was almost corroded through. Just pry the insulation back a little and if it is clean your ok.
Thanks for the quick reply's. I just got back home from working on his truck. I took the service manual with me and we were working our way down the list of things to check. Then I decided to just check for power at the solenoid with the key in the start position. When I did this, the truck started. So we brought it home to the garage and pulled the starter. Cleaned the contacts in the solenoid, which were pretty pitted. So far, evrything is OK. Hopefully that was the problem. Thanks, again. Ron...
