This is the first time i have had this happen, i started my truck today and i heard what sounded like the starter stayed engaged with the flywheel and i turned the key off and the truck stayed running, so i popped the hood and was going to pull down on the fuel shut off, just as i got the hood up it shut off. I restarted the truck and it is fine now, what do i need to check out? Any info would be very helpful.

New starter contacts should fix you right up, I had the same problem and the contacts were very easy to install. The starter can be a PITA to get loose if you haven't taken it off before, need good extensions and a couple of good stout "UGGGGHHH"s.

Until you get the starter replaced, you might want to keep a hammer or such handy when you drive, if it sticks you can reach under and whack the devil out of the starter and it will usually jar the contacts loose - better than burning up the solenoid and having a small fire...

My truck did the same thing and I kept whacking it to stop it. It also came to the point to change the contacts. Since then I have had no starter problems whatsoever. The hammer is back in the toolbox where it belongs.
