My starter on my truck seems to go out every year. Now it all started when my original starter went out, after about 9 year, I replaced with a napa starter. Since then it has gone out ruteenly. Is the original starters heavier duty. I seem to think this is the case. I have notice that there are replacements that are about three times the price of the napa one.

What does it do when it "goes out'?If it is just the contacts burning out, you would be better off just replacing them with a heavy duty set from Larry B's.

The problem is with NAPA. The quality of their reman electrical parts has been going downhill for years. I would look at new from Rockauto or another online source.

Would it be a good idea to do the starter rebuild kit from Geno's garage. The contacts are much larger, also the starters that are much more in price are called high torque; I'm wondering if those are worth the money?

I don't think the kits from Geno's come with brushes. If your only problem stems from the contacts, then yes. Larry B's contacts are a very good option. It's been my experience that when it comes to electrical components, you get what you pay for.
