Ram falling on its Horns....

So far the truck has done this twice. Last time was over a year ago.

What happens.

Turn the key to on, wait for grids if they come on, and turn to start. Normally there is a 1/2 second pause, and the truck starts cranking.

Here is the issue. When I turn the key to start... Nothing happens!

No codes.

No blown fuses.

Eventually if you turn the key off, and back on enough times. . It will figure itself out. . and crank.

Anyone ever have this issue?

Could it be the key/switch? Or maybe some CAN bus communication issue?

Could be several causes. Without looking I believe the 07 still has the starter solenoid wire in a single connector on the firewall above and to the left of the brake booster. Disconnect that connector (C102 Grey connector Yellow/Grey wire) and check for voltage (meter or test light) when in the cranking position. If you have voltage there the problem is the starter solenoid or wiring, if not it is the switch, TIPM or wiring. And in a pinch if you throw a couple feet of wire under the seat, you can start the truck by jumping the starter from there by disconnecting the C102 connector and jumping the starter side to B+. BE SURE IT IS IN PARK OR NEUTRAL WITH THE BRAKE ON FIRST. That is assuming it is not the starter or solenoid.

Also note when you disconnect the connector and hit the key you will set a CEL for an open circuit on the starter circuit. It should clear in a couple of days on it's own.
