Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Starting issues

Hey guys lately I have been having starting issues with my truck and I suspect it is the points in the starter. Basically what is happening is when I go to start it, it will click down by the starter and nothing happens. I will have to do this sometimes for a while before it will start. Once the starter actually turns over it cranks fine. I cleaned all my connections at the battery posts and checked the ground and it is all good. Any advice this is starting to **** me off.

It is your starter. If you look on e-bay, you can find the parts you need to repair it yourself. You probably only need the copper contacts. I bought a kit that had two sets of contacts and the plunger for 29. 50 with included shipping from a guy in Jacksonville, FL. Then you just take the starter off your truck and remove the three small screws in the silonoid cover and you'll see everything you need to do. Total job took me about 1 hour. Sure was a lot better thatn buying a new starter for 200 plus bucks!

Same problem - did fix work?

Did this work to fix the problem with the starter clicking and not engaging. My truck has started doing that recently.
