starting up

Uncle Sam sent off for a couple months and when I returned my 89 would not start... I had to break down the lines to get it started. It was fine for the rest of the day. But come day 2 same deal again. I got a million ideas running through my mind; but wonder if you guys would know of one problem that is more common than another.

More than likely It has a small leak some where letting air getting into the sytem when it sits for awhile Try looking at all of the connections and the condition of the hoses. to start with

Thanks! I kinda gave it a once over and could find nothing. . I wasn't sure if maybe the copper washers were a common problem or another common act of failure. I guess I will just have to break it all down and inspect from front to back and go from there...

Might want to put some biocide in the tank, if you don't find anything else. Mine had some bacteria grow in the diesel while I was away for a few months, and the truck behaved very strangely. Took me a long time to diagnose. Sometimes it would start fine, other times it would be difficult to start. Often it would run fine after it got started, sometimes it would cut out at high speeds. Thought maybe it was water in the tank, but drained it and no water was to be found. I replaced fuel filters and the in-tank screen, that would help briefly but not permanently. After putting the bug killer in there, it returned to normal and has been fine for 4 months.
