Would it be okay to move the stock cam plate all the way forward and adjust the starwheel say 30+ clicks without having a pyrometer installed. My Dad's truck rarely ever has a trailer on it and when it does it is only around 6-7K between the trailer and load.
We plan to put gauges in it soon, but want to play with it a little now.
Just seeking some thoughts.
Thanks,
Jerry

With no pyro gauge, if you have to play with something play with the star wheel. Sliding the plate is asking for trouble with no pyro IMHO.

Edit-My 97 would pull 1250* when it was stock!

Tell him to not keep his foot buried into the floor and he should be fine. The camplate slide trick isn't a huge power increase, so there isn't a lot to worry about. Make sure you adjust the wastegate or disconnect the line to increase the boost pressure. You need that added boost to keep things cool.

Enjoy,
Chris

Thanks for the info guys. I appreciate it.
