Is there a difference with the compression ratio between these two 24v engines? If so, would it be worth swapping from a std to an ho??? I'm thinking probably not, but know a guy who wants to... With all the mads available for these, would there even be any difference when you got to the 600-700hp range??

The differences are small, but the ho does have more. Anyone building a big Hp HO will usually run a thicker head gasket off a 12V to lower the compression a little. At 600-700hp,the Std engine usually makes a little more HP than the HO,on the order of 10-30hp. There arent any 24vs that are running over 650HP with the VP44 pump, unless there using drugs,or correction factors ,and dynoing at altitude to get there.
