I must be getting old or something, because I am getting tired of having my rear seat filled up with subs. I was looking at the stealth enclosures by JL Audio, Q Logic, and MTX. Whatever I get, I will be replacing the sub/subs with subs of my liking. What I was wondering is if anyone has heard the single 12 enclosure versus the dual 10's under the rear seat. I have two Power DVC 15's right now and have high expectations and am not sure if I'll survive with anything less. But I may have to sacrifice some low end to get the couch back.

Thanks, Dan

I have the same problem with duel 12" Lanzar DC series on the rear couch. Only problem is when I cruse around on the weekends I usually need the seat for friends so the woofers stay in the house most of the time. I have also looked at these enclosures. My main question is will the Rockford Fosgate Power 10" DVC's fit and will the box handle the watts these will put out? Anyone out there running such a combo?

The best idea I saw is a replacement for the center console seat bottom. The replacement is identical and covered in the same fabric as the factory bottom, only it's a custom enclosure with a 12" woofer.

I have the JL Audio 12" "Stealth box" that goes INSIDE the center seat. It is amazing, you lose absolutley no storage space, and the set is still fully functional. The only thing you do lose is the rear set cupholder (Which is useless anyhow). I have seen the Q Logic setup but that mounts inbetween the front and rear seats so you still lose the the center rear seat legroom. Also, the paint they use to match your interior scrpaes off. The JL Audio one is basically a direct replacement for your senter seat, you jut put your cloth or leather over there box. Thats it. Easy to install. I mounted the 300 watt amp and cd changer under the passenger seat. I paid about $430. 00 for it. Well worth it in my opinion for what you get, TONS of bass.

If you want to use subs of your liking, then just build your own center seat enclosure,or have a competent stereo shop do it for you. I have made several center seat boxes, and just followed the contours of the original seat frame, and the used the facory seat upholstry to cover it. Most sub manufacturers will supply box sizes and specs, and programs to design your box by entering your available parameters.

I have two subs and two amps under the rear so that the only thing I have lost is the storage under the seat - not the seat itself!

My box was custom made and glassed-in then covered in the exact color match vinyl as the rear seat (I have leather interior - but the rear bench is vinyl)

<font color = blue> Dan, I second what Scooby says above. I auditioned both the single 12" and the dual 10" JL Audio subwoofers and eventually went for the dual setup, which goes underneath the rear bench, so I just lost the tool tray facility. The sound quality more than makes up for it and I have full access to the rear bench seat also.

Several TDR members have seen/heard my set-up before I shipped my truck to Europe and said it sounded great - to get maximum advantage though, you should really consider soundproofing with some Dynamat all around the inside of the cab.

Sound quality has alot to do with the head unit and the quality of the amps, and of course how much power they are. I heard the dual 10" setup, but chose the single 12" under the center seat because the difference was very minimal. Plus, i couldnt justify losing all the under seat storage which i need.
I have my 12" JL powered by a 300 watt Phoenix Gold amp and i have a pioneer head unit. Which if i put on "Super Bass" will, when turned up all the way, blow you out of truck. It is so loud and has so much Bass, you cant even sit in the truck if you turn it up all the way. It is more then enough Bass for me and i listen to everything from Metallica and Korn to Dr Dre.
Two 10" speakers are nice, but if you buy the right Amp for the Center seat 12" sub, you will be amazed at how good it sounds. Like i said, the difference is virtually unnoticable. And you still get to keep all your tool and junk storage under the rear seat.

I am using the mtx box it fits great under the seat. I replaced the 2 10's with some aura 10's I had to add an extra thick o-ring so the magnet would not hit the bottom. the sound is not the greatest but it works for me. The best way to do it is to custom make a fiberglass box as the mtx box is made of plastic. I did make 2 nice boxs that slid under the rear seat, i ran 2 jl 10's they hit real hard. The problem I had was the air mass you need to run these high quality subs is not there. the boxs stuck out a little bit to far and was hard for people to get there feet in.
