My Engine compartment is disgusting after a hunting season of running down dirt roads- is there anything inparticular that I need to know before I spray it down? Any areas to aviod? any advice on chemicals to use?

Thanks

-Tim

I've used Simple Green with good results. Just make sure the engine isn't hot when you spray it on. You don't want to let it dry before you hose it off.

You can get a can of engine degreaser from the store and spary it on good. Or mix a bottle of 25% simple green and rest water. Spray on and within a few minutes put the pressure washer on low or the hose on high and spray away works great!!!

I use Simple Green and the power washer. LOW pressure and hot water. The washer I use can put out 4000 PSI, but can adjust the wand so the PSI is low enough that it is like using a garden hose. Can even put your hand in front of it without any possibility of harm to your hand. :D

What everyone said, Simple Green really does work. I've have many comments as to the look of my engine compartment as to how clean it is and everything looks new. I just use the Simple Green, let it set for about 10 minutes and wash it off with a water hose. Be sure to get it all off any aluminum (sp) as it can cause to get a white chaulky look.

Can you just go to town when spraying the water? Does one have to be concerned about any electrical components or other items that may not be water friendly?

hosed mine down many times. not a problem at all, even used a pressure washer, it didnt have an adjustable spray pressure, so I just hold it back a little bit. as long as you dont directly pressure wash any of the electrical components with 2000+ PSI water, you should be fine.

haha, how about strap on a snorkel and silicone up the PCM/ECM and power box, and just drive right through the river :-laf

Simple green is a champ

I used simple green cut 50% with water, let it sit ten minutes, and hosed it off today. It works really well. Thanks. MUST move that darn puke bottle now. What mess!
