I have been shopping for a hood for my 2002 (old style front clip)for sometime and not all that much success.

One fella told me fiberglass is a mistake because of the heat from the diesel,it will warp after a few years. The cowl induction is probably the safest bet but its the same old thing, looking for something different in a steel hood with a functional cold air intake???Am I beating a dead horse or is there hope??

The F/G hoods look neat because they can easily be molded into nifty shapes - but seems they commonly require substantial fit and finish work to fit properly and look decent.

Haven't heard as much about steel hoods - so dunno about issues with them...

Ditto Gary-

I've had two after market FG, and one mtl. hood, that I bought and installed on my cars in previous years. The mtl. hood was much better for fit, and paint prep.

Also in the hot, sunny desert areas, the paint on FG is much more likely to spider web (crack). Especially with the darker colors.

I've been running a Air Bulldog F/G for over nine years w/o a problem with heat from the diesel so whoever told you that about diesels and f/g hood's doesn't know what he's talking about. As for fit and such it's been just fine in that regard too. I know the guy that made my hood knew what he was doing and re-inforced critical spots and mounting points. No cracks, blisters, flaws or other problems.
