I'm going to be off shore later this month... and will be working with a manufacturer who now builds wheels for our market... . He is an ISO manufacturer building for 2 US companies... . We are actually working on a different project and found that they build wheels as well...

I've asked for some time with their wheel engineers to pitch a cost effective steel wheel for my 3500 duallys and trailers... . same wheel just a different hub size fits my trailers... . both are hub centered...

I'm looking for a wheel rated to handle a 19. 5" tire... and the load, not the light weight wheel used by the bread vans... . something in the 3800-4000 lb rating... .

And if there is an interest also for the single rear wheel trucks...

I'm personally looking for a work truck wheel... . nothing fancy either with a good coat of paint or powder coated... . I just don't want a $250 allow wheel or the $200 steel wheels I've found... .

If you have an interest... . please e-mail me... . so I can judge the need..... I'm guessing a group buy... . with delivery sometime in Feb or Mar of next year...

I'm very interested too. Wheels for a 3500 SRW 4x4 with close to factory backspacing, etc. Black powdercoating or painting is fine with me too. Let us know when you get more info. Wheel width around 8" would be great for me, as I plan on running the 285/70/19. 5s. Thanks! Eric

A plain Jane 19. 5 wheel for a srw would be perfect. Keep it reasonably priced and you should sell tons of them!

7. 5" wide so one could run a 265 or 285, and it will sell [i wouldn't mind having some 265/70/19. 5 g124 as winters]

OK..... sounds like there is an interest... . I'll start working on this when I'm overseas... . Don't expect much from me until Dec or so..... I'm guessing it will take that long to develop what we need... ... Unless they can change something they already build... .

Thanks for the input...

THere's basically nothing in the correct offset for a SRW out there, at any price that I think is reasonable. I have a buddy that can powder coat something that size (I think). Chromey would be kinky if the price were right. Oh, the right width, offset, and very minimal runout. I hate runout, as it makes the steering jiggle. I'd hate to get mad after buying them, and have to put some aluminum wheels on the front to solve that, thus having bought 6 instead of 4. But you know what I mean... yeah, put strong in the specs too...

Jim... check to see if trailer wheels certify for tow vehicle as well. When I was trying to ditch the price of Rickson steels a few years ago I found a trailer wheel manufacturer but got stopped on the trailer vs tow issue. Also... they were heavier. Ricksons are heavy enough... you feel em when trying to stop (a little slower) and they don't come off the ground as fast in bumps so ride a little rougher in the bumps. The H rated tires don't have much soaking ability either... as Kent from KORE said: Like using railroad wheels on a pickup. Well... not really! Great for highway. He is offroad king and views from there. I am offroad camper and back to aluminum 17's and Toyo 285 AT's at 3700 lbs each. They ride way more gooder for back country (plus the Fox shocks). For highway my 19. 5's were like a sports car. George

Inexpensive Steel Dually (and SRW?) Wheels

We would be happy to supply an imported, utilitarian steel wheel for duallies as well as for SRW trucks. We already have drawings and a supplier lined up to do the job, but to be honest, didn't think there would be much interest. We're proud of the looks, the quality (read runout), and the fact that we manufacture our wheels in the USA. The flipside (there's no free ride) is that they will not be pretty, and being manufactured by more of a mass producer, will have runout spec's closer to that of a medium duty truck 19. 5" wheel rather than a handbuilt wheel. Our max specs are . 040" 1st harmonic lateral (L1H) and radial (R1H), but we're typically running in the teens now that we're building them in-house. They would also probably be a few pounds heavier than our current offerings (we're working on using special high strength steel in our wheels disks to reduce the weight). The weight rating should be substantial (4000# range) due to the heavier disk material that would be used, although the small bolt pattern will only allow so much. We're working on a custom set of these now for a grossly overloaded truck and will get some idea of the potential when they go out for testing. Pricing would probably be in the $150-175 range. Let us know that you're interested so we can gauge the annual volume of such a wheel and if it looks like it's worthwhile, we'll go ahead and make it happen.
