Can anyone recommend a 16x7 or 16x8 black steel wheel that has the proper offset/backspacing for an 01. 5 truck? I know AR has a 767, and Discount Tire has a "NASCAR Victory Hauler" but I can't find any backspacing/load rating info on either. I would not like to spend much more than $100/wheel.

Anything but Cragar... I know they can match the factory wheel in dimensions, but of the four I got (bought two (new) wheels at two different times) NONE OF THEM WERE STRAIGHT!!

Hmm

What about factory 17's from a 3rd gen... would those fit a 2nd gen properly? I see take offs on ebay going for pretty cheap.

Steel 3rd gen 17" wheels WILL FIT. However, they are backspaced slightly deeper (your overall track width will be about 2" narrower)... my dad runs my 3rd gen steels (with 245x70r17s) on his truck in the winter. My center caps don't fit his truck because the 3rd gen AAM rear hub is shorter, but I think he simply ran his 2nd gen caps without any issue.

I have some 17's from a 3rd Gen on my truck right now. Fit great! Haven't actually measured the back spacing, but they look and drive just fine.

steved, great thanks. i have no problem being more narrow at all. 17" steelies might be perfect. i dont really want 265s anyway. 245s would be nice.

analog, are they the steelies or alum?

loghead, thank you. the info from ar's site is good, but i'd also like to confirm the load rating...

I have those wheels on my truck (16X8) ; I know that info came with the wheels. I'll see if I still have the numbers somewhere.

They are steel with a chrome cover inlayed ontop of the steel. Nice looking, but I don't know how much they are rated for. I assumed they are heavy duty enough since they come standard on the 3rd gen 2500s.

Thanks yeah, I would not question an OEM wheel using an OEM weight tire... I'll keep a looking.

There's a nice pair of the steelies (I mean no fancy chrome or anything) for $400 with brand new tires on eBay but the guy wants $300 to ship them

Thanks... ironically AR responded to my email and told me 3100#.

3100 is nice... if the front end actually weighs in at 4500, then 2200 is marginally scary

I wonder why there is such a discrepancy between what AR emailed you and what they provide with the wheels.
