Archived Steering box leak

I'm in a jam here and need to get my truck back on the road. The steering box is leaking like a river around the pitman arm shaft. I've done some research and there is a seal kit. What I need to know is, does the box have to come out to change the seal, do I need special tools, and is it worth doing or should I change the box? I have a long trip leaving soon and need to make a decision now.

You should replace all the seals, however, if time is short you can change just the pitman shaft seal. It also should be available local. You will need a pitman arm puller and should pull the shaft to make the seal removal easier.
