I hit a stump this weekend only going a few miles per hour, with no body damage, but I did get the tire. I am replacing the tires anyway so it was not a big deal, but after this happened my steering box started leaking. It is leaking were the pitman arm contects to the bottom of it. I guess my question is can I replace that seal or do I have to get a new box. If I have to get a new box where should I get one and how much do you think it will cost:( . Money is somewhat of an issue right now. Can you guys please help.

Thanks

Russ

Hi Russ:

The seal is available from DC. Hopefully the shaft didn't get bent/damaged.

If you do end up needing a steering gear, send me a line.

Andy,

I will order the seal. Is it a hard repair. How will I know if I have bent the rod or if I need a new gear. When you talk about the gear are you you meaning the steering boxes.

Thanks again

Russ

If the shaft is bent the steering wheel won't be centered when you are going straight. Easy way to remove the seal is to first remove the pitman arm, then the seal retainer, turn the steering wheel, the seal will pop out along with a bunch of fluid.
