Steering box leaking after 37K miles?

I noticed oil on my pitman arm today. seems to be leaking from the steering box seal. is this common after 37K miles? I have the extended care factory warranty for 5 years and 60K miles. the dealer said there is a $100 deductable to change it. . I can't win. . the leak is minor, i might just pour some lucas in there.

on my 06 mine went @ 12K with the ball joints @ 26 and the old 04 i had went out at 33K.

After you get it replaced get a sector shaft support.

they said they will replace the box which was a special order for the $100 deductable. I wonder if it's new or a rebuilt box?? same thing, mine is only a few drops too. I might wait and see what happens with it. I still have allmost 2 years and 22K miles left on the service contract. I am not crazy about my current dealer and don't really like them touching my truck. I have to find another shop before I get this done. thanks for the help

is the sector shaft support the brace bar that geno's sells? not for nothing, it is rediculous that we have to put a steering box brace on our trucks... dodge can't figure this out? if this is a problem they should put this on at the factory... it's unreal. . and they wonder why they are all hurting... .

Mine is leaking like a siv at 91K. It's been leaking since 36K

I was one week out of warrenty, paid the $100 deductable. They gave me a number to call and Chrysler reinbursed me. Maybe you can get that deal since the CEO and others are afraid to fly their corprate jets anywhere now.

Same thing for me at 6k. New steering gear, under warranty!

Just for the heck of it before spending a bunch of money. Try draining the power steering resvoir, not hard to with a air siphon into a container on the side. Then or before you start this go down to your local parts house and look at the containers of power steering fluid. Read the labels and some state they incorporate a leak stop in them. Its only few dollars and maybe worth a try ????

I would recomend staying away from any seal swelling products... ... ... it will cost you more down the road.
