Was under the truck today and noticed the steering box is leaking (pretty good) around the sector shaft and there's PS fluid on the frame where the box mounts. Anyone else have this happen with such few miles?

Yes. Steering box was replaced at around 4000 miles. Okay so far, but I only have 8600 miles on the truck. Other than that item, the truck has been great!

Yes,

Mine was leaking at the first oil change. It wasn't leaking to bad though so I didn't get around to having it replaced untill about 8k.

Everything seems good so far and I almost have 35k on it now.

Thanks for the replies. I can't believe that a steering box can't make it past 14K miles before it craps out. Steering problems- a never ending story w/ Dodge..... :( .

Just had box replaced today and the truck is back to normal. As I was driving out of the dealer, I got to thinking... the box must of started to go bad before I installed the Skyjacker kit. After installing the kit, the steering wasn't that bad, yet wasn't like factory. I chalked it up to the truck needing an alignment and the Skyjacker kit probably screwed up the stock geometry pretty bad. Well, after having it aligned, it was better, but not like it was when I first bought it. Again, I figured the Skyjacker screwed up the geometry a little and I'd just have to live with it.

Well, after the tech replaced the box, I noticed tremendous difference. The truck actually drives and handles like it did when it was new.

P. S. The dealer said nothing about the Skyjacker kit. Tech said they've been replacing a lot of boxes lately..... so many that actually stock them.

I had mine replaced at about that mileage too. The old one must have been a POS because it steered like a new ricer when I got it back.
