First question. My truck seems to want to wander a little bit more than I like or remember. My tie rod ends and trac bar are tight and the ball joints have few miles on them. If I have someone turn the steering wheel and I am watching the steering box output shaft, that shaft appears to move side to side, like a pendalom. Is this a sign of the box going bad? The wandering seems alot worse when the truck is in 4x4.

Second question. This is a 94 truck and I also have a 96 model. If I turn the steering wheel all the way to full lock and count the turns to the other lock, both trucks take 4 1/2 turns. I read on a previous post that everyone recommends the 3 turn boxes. Can someone tell me why? Thanks.

I have a 2002 with totally modified steering, nothing is factory. A box will not correct other problems that may be hidden. You need to raise front end to check track arm and tie rod ends. If they are factory, that is the main problem.

JD, that is a definate sign that it is time for a new box, without doubt. The 3 turn box can be had from PSC amongst others. It will produce more precise steering.
