I have question about the play in the lower part of the steering column. The movement is not in the steering shaft, it’s the tube that has the shift lever welded to it that’s moving. Everything under the dash is tight. Is there a bushing inside the toe plate that’s bad? Trying to get some input before pulling the column.

Thanks Ken

Yes There is kit available that replaces the bushing in the lower end of the steering tube from an outfit called Rocksolid. I bought one a while back but have not installed it yet. I saw it here on the forum. It sells for around $60. 00. I hope this helps Harry

rocksolidramtrucksteering.com I got one a few yrs back, helped a good bit. I just checked out the site a little bit ago and there is a video on there explaining what the bushing is and how it is better than the stock setup. Also dont use the steering wheel to pull yourself in, wears the bearing out a lot faster

I had the rock solid bushing setting on the shelf, but after looking at where the slop was I didn't know if this was my problem. I talked to David at rock solid and he told me the slop was going to be in the outer tube and to go ahead and install the bushing. The old one came out in about 15 min. and the bushing was slow going in. The shift lever is welded on and the welds had melted inside the tube. After getting it installed it took about 90% of the slop out. The truck drives so much better.

Thanks David
