So lately it feels like the steering column is loose. Not so much the whole thing just the shaft attched to the steering wheel. It is just a very slight play. The only way to feel it is if you grab it and try to shimmy it back and forth (so to speak). Hasn't been a big problem, just want to make sure it's not something that get worse and if so, is there an easy fix.

My truck was making a slight popping feeling/noise in the steering wheel when making slow turns or going over small bumps. Also noticed a small amount of sideways play in the steering wheel, close to where the tilt is on the column. Took it to the dealer and they replaced the upper steering column (inside cab) under warranty (truck had 22,000 miles). They said there was a worn bearing in the column (in my opinion probably defective). Now it's as tight as a drum.

Oo.

Here is a place that sells steering columns. Last August I checked this place and they wanted $268. 00 for my Steering column (pretty good deal), now they want $689. 00. Must be a big increase in demand!
