2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission Steering column gauge pod

I'm installing a gauge pod on my steering column and can't figure out how the existing plastic pieces come a part and it's better to ask then break something

any tips or tricks out there?

my book says to remove the steering colum covers to unscrew the bottom cover then it will come off then to unscrew the steering wheel tilt lever and the top will come off. installation is reverse of removal... ... Hope this helps
