Steering column, is yours crooked?

My steering column is crooked. It's really unsettling when you look at it while driving, especially since the truck pulls to the right also. It just doesn't look right. Does your steering column exit the dash straight or is it crooked like mine?

Mine's got a slight gap, not as noticeable as yours. Same side too.
And you should buckle your safety belt.

Ha! You're right. I should know better. I shouldn't be taking pictures of my steering column doing 45mph either.

Mine is exactly the same as yours, exept mine does not pull to the right. I never noticed this until I had the vents repaired at the dealer though a while back.

Maybe it wasn't crooked before yours was repaired? I wonder if our dashes are not seated properly.

When my truck was new, back in the day, the steering box crapped out. When they put in the new one the steering wheel was crooked and it canceled the turn signals at bad times it drove me nuts. I had them straighten it.

Mine moves, I can move it from side to side and end up with a gap like yours. I haven't had time to climb under there and look to see if bolt is loose. Can you move yours side to side by pushing on the right side then the left?

A good alignment shop can fix that pull to the right, but not a Dodge shop they will set it to factory specs. I had mine realigned and it now runs atraight as an arrow. I read somewhere long ago that in their great wisdom some Chrysler Engineers thought that if the driver became incapacitated it would be better for the truck to go off the right shoulder than into oncoming traffic. Hence the pull to the right.

I can move my about a 1/4 inch either direction from side to side. I will try to get under there this weekend and check it out. Sure does seem like something came loose, because it has become worse in the past year or so. Every time I get in I have a habit of grabing the wheel, it will move unless it's all the way in that postion already.

Wow! Mine is straight as an arrow too. Imagine that..... One thing on my truck that is actually correct, not broken or messed up! Wow, maybe this truck isn't a piece of ***** after all? Sorry for the sarcasim, i just am sick of every little thing going wrong with my truck. It is a love hate relationship... . kind of like marriage... ... ... ... ... .
