Time to get a fuel pressure gauge. I'm planning on getting a Nordskog digital fuel pressure gauge and putting it in a steering column mount. Has anyone done this? Are there any interfrerence issues? And whats the best way to mount the mount? Also if you have pictures of this mount please post them!

TIA

Zach

Zach...

Presonally, I wouldn't put it on the column.

When I had my transmission done by Fred at Desert Diesel, he had an SPA gauge on his column, and I just didn't like it a bit. You can't see most of your warning (dumby) lights. Trust me on this, it gets old having to look around something to see those lights (especially your overdrive off light), as I had to for 6 months when my steering wheel was turned 90* right.

Wait till Friday and take a good look at my gauge mount in the cubby hole... you definitely don't have to go with the mechanical boost gauge (although it's a good, easy to install, and cheap option, and has worked well for both me and Denis now (knock on wood)). With the FP gauge, you don't need to look at it constantly (especially with your PE4200 pump) so you don't need it right in front of you.

Just my thoughts, and I know others will differ, especially about viewing the dumby lights, but that's just how I felt about it when I looked at Fred's.

Try this

Here is the column mount with Sport Comp fuel pressure gauge. Easy install just a minor mod to the pod for a better and cleaner wiring.

zach, I agree with Josh, I've had 2 cw pods and never installed either.

I went to a triple pillar, remember I have the dual guage that give my 3 pillar, 4 gauges and I am very happy

Another view.

How can I post better and clearer pics. I have to cut these down and lower the pixs so much they are small and blurry.

About the view I personally have had no problems seeing my lights. And feel it is better having the gauge in line with everything else than having to look across the dash or down to check your gauges IMO. Much safer IMO. Good luck... . hope the pics helped, if you want more let me know and I'll email you some better ones..... Dwayne

mediccummin,

how often do you actually check your FP gauge? Personally, I check mine three times every time I start my pickup. First time on initial prime (check for 15 PSI prime)... Second is after start, during 30 second "grace" period for my transmission to lube-up and oil pressure to come up... third would be at cruise, to make sure getting at least 10 PSI (10-11 is what I get/expect at 65-85 MPH cruise). I only check it once in a while, and only breifly when doing 1/4 runs, just to make sure I'm not at complete zero on the gauge... usually, with my BOMBs, I'm at 3-4 PSI at WOT... not good, I know, but no $$$ for the PE right now (damn turbo!!)

Here's a pic of my setup... no, not easy to see exact location of needle, but you get used to knowing where it is, and can tell what it's running.

Thanks for the replies and the pictures guys.

I remember seeing your setup Josh and I like it, I just wanted to keep all the gauges together just a personal preference but if I dont like the way the column mount looks in person I'll probably go to the cubbyhole with it. I'm thinking your turbo was a better investment than my PE pump though :{ , knock on wood its still alive.

Dwayne I'd appreciate it if you could email me acouple pictures from the drivers POV -- email address removed --

Anybody got anymore opinions?

Thanks again,

Zach
