Do any of you know of an aftermarket steering column available for our application. Not the Borgeson or Flaming River intermediate shafts, but the in-cab portion of the system. I have a series of popping noises occuring as I turn the wheel. I am thinking it is the bearing at the top of the shaft. Anyone else had this problem or know of a solution? Thanks

Outback, I have been searching for the source of my 'clunking' in the steering column... and I found that it is the plastic 'puck' that serves as the bearing in the firewall. Apparently, the telescopic portion under the hood freezes up, and the suspension travel just hammers away at the firewall part! Dodge did a TSB for the pre-12/96 trucks for a clam-shell bracket that bolts to the inside of the firewall and shores-up the column. Check for a TSB for your model year.

Can't find a TSB, I will check the exit at firewall, but I think it is going to need a new steering column. I have asked many of my friends who have the same trucks and they don' t have the same problems... . The intermediate shaft does have some slop in it, but the noise seems like more than would be generated by that alone.
