I am just curious about this, should the lower shaft in the steering column slide out. I just installed a borgeson on a truck for someone and after driving it the shaft was sliding out. I did not have the lock collar on the steering shaft up against the boot at the time but it is now. Will the slide of the steering shaft rest on the lock collar? I bought a parts truck that was driveable a while back that has had a borgeson shaft on for several years. The lock collar on it is down aganst the u-joint. Anyhow I got that truck in a bind cutting wood and the shaft inside the steering column came apart. I blamed the steering column but maybe it was only because the steering shaft was installed wrong.

Thanks,

Matt

The shafts are designed to slide, yes. On the borgeson, you need to press it up and then lock the sliding collar so the borgeson cant slide together. If it cant move, the columb shaft cant fall out. There should also be a spring or a plastic sleeve at the bottom of the bearing in the bottom of the columb that helps keep tension on everything too.
