Need some help were can I get a well made steering box for a 2001 4x4 truck. I was hoping for a new one, I called the dealer they said $1100. 00 to $1300. 00 for one installed. I about died. I was wondering if MOOG makes a steering box anyone know. Please help if you can :(

OMG $1100

Buy a pitman arm puller, a gear box, a new pump, and some synthetic steering fluid, DIY and save yourself at least $600. when done swing it by a good tire shop and have it aligned. An easy wrench sesssion, where you at?

I'm located in Maryland and shouldn't the pump be covered under the power train warranty. I do believe it is I will check. But were do you get a new one from other then the dealer. I noticed you have the Darrin bearing support on your truck how do you like it?

I wouldn't want to comment on warrantee, I never considered it, went straight to an aftrmarket gear box. Never regretted it. Will replace the pump soon as well.

The DSS, Love it! Highly recommend it. If you are already going to have the pitman arm off, a perfect time to install a DSS.

I went right to aftermarket too and made the mistake of buying an AGR box. In 2 weeks it was loose as hell. Took it out sent it back . They adjusted it?? (I think?. Got no paperwork when it came back). It's still on the shelf. I didn't feel like playing musical steering chucks. PSC was not around then.

What he said!

PSC and DSS

The PSC is a quality unit and combined with the DSS sector shaft stabilizer the truck steers and tracks great.

I've looked but maybe have overlooked. Do they have a power steering pump available without the hydrualic ram? (out of kit form)

I'm looking to replace my gear and pump at the same time but don't want to throw down the cash on the full assist system.

Any other sources for the pump guys?

Yes the pump is available by itself for around $160 I believe. It's rated at 1500psi at idle +/- 100psi I don't recall exactly.
