When my truck sits for a while, the steering wheel is hard to turn. I notice this the most when I am at my girlfriend's house that has concrete driveway and I have to turn left to leave the driveway.

Mine is like that when it is really cold, like 20degs and lower, until I move the wheel back and forth a few times. Its really loud when it is like that too. Other than that I dont know what would make it hard to turn other than low fluid or failing pump?

Hope this helps

mine did that too, untill i used the old primer bulb with a couple of short hoses on each end and sucked out the factory installed power steering fluid a few times. i used synthetic power steering fluid and never had that problem again.

Changing the fluid on both my trucks has eliminated the problem too. The factory fluid gets burnt after a while and things start sticking. You will probably have to change it several times to get it cleaned out and working right again.

Pull the power steering dip stick and check the CONDITION of the fluid. If it is dark and especially if it SMELLS burnt, it needs to be changed!
