Ok, I'm sorry I'm a newb. But I need to upgrade the steering linkage on my son's 2002 Ram 2500 4x4. I've read there's a moog kit and mopar kit to convert it to T steering. Can anyone help me with exactly what kit I need along with trac bar or what all parts I need please? Also what I need to do for steering stabilizer with the new kit? I've looked at synergy but dang the $

OP, how about an update? I tried to post in another thread with more info and part numbers but the site wont let me...grrr! It is not even old!!

The above thread is really old and parts are hard to find and are expensive when you do find them.

I am trying to go a different route. It appears that for '98-'99 an HD t-style steering was an option. The individual parts are readily available aftermarket and are very reasonable. Plus, if I re-use my old adjusting sleeves, I can save even more.

Does anyone know if the 98-99 HD parts will be a direct fit on my '01?

I don't understand what taper this is talking about. Is the stud taper the same?

Following... this subject is all over the place when I do searches. I'm looking into it as well for my 98 with t-steering. At 323k+ it's just getting sloppy even with 3rd gen track bar, new steering box, rock solid bushing....I've got parts compiling including rotors, ball joints, hubs and want to know the latest greatest available upgrade for a drag link, etc...

I have 336k miles on my '01 with all original parts, there appears to be no slop anywhere and my tires wear perfect but I have always had to drive it. My '91 D-250 almost drives itself. Just looking at the difference between Y and T, the T has to be better. With a solid link between both knuckles there should be no dead spot in the steering wheel or bump steer. It looks like the Y can do all kinds of goofy things pertaining to suspension movement or steering input.

I haven't done anything yet. Still gathering info. I just got done rebuilding the rearend hub to hub, new shocks, new park brake backing plates, shoes, cables. Pulling transmission this weekend to check it out. Rebuild, reseal, or replace. Then I'll get to address steering after that. Already did transfer case. Drivetrain will pretty much all be new when I'm done

Some good info here, says the 98-99 HD oem tie rods have a different taper than my '01 so that lets out my plan to use them. That the 2000-2012 are the same, so this Mopar #52122362AF kit should fit.

"94 to 99 trucks have one size taper in the knuckles and pitman arm.
00 to 02 trucks have another size taper in the knuckles and pitman arm.
03 to 08 trucks have the same size taper in the knuckles and pitman arm as the 00-02 2nd gens.
08.5 to 12 trucks have the same size taper in the knuckles and pitman arm as the 00-02 2nd gens and 03-08 3rd gens"

More info.....

Mopar #52122362AE, AF, AG, AH, AI, AJ, AK all appear to supercede to the "AL" suffix.

Update to this. I installed the 52122362AF and it was a direct bolt in. Also installed a Rare parts adjustable track bar. At the same time I readjusted the bearing preload in the steering box and the combination of all that completely tightened up the steering. Drives like a new truck. Best upgrade I've done

Are you guys running either of these boxes ? I’d really like to upgrade I bought a car quest and it was good for about a week

I guess I’ll do a little research on prices and see what I can come up with . I bought a steering box a long king time ago from Genos garage and it was junk that was for an old gen one and to he honest that truck needed way more parts than just the steering box . Which this one I have probably does to

Put a red head in my truck a couple of years ago. Big difference from what it was. Still working great. I havent noticed any degradation.

Have a PSC in mine w/stabilizer and like it. Steers with very little effort but everything is wearing out. Wondering if going to the 09 is going to work with the stabilizer angle etc.
