Anybody get the recall for steering linkage? My appointment is for Thrusday, I figured it isn't something to wait for. I kind of like to steer the truck myself. Anyone had this done?

I had this done awhile back. I dropped the truck off for an oil-change and when I came back after work to pick it up the left tie rod was changed out. No big deal.

What gets done depends on what linkage your truck has on it and if it was installed correctly if it had been replaced earlier

These re-calls have been out there for a while now. One deals with the steering box end of the drag link. The tierod end use to be straight and would/ could pop the ball out of the socket in extream suspension articulation. The new design has a bend downward to prevent this from happening. The other re-call dealt with alignment of the tierod ends on the cross over link from wheel to wheel. If the tierod ends are not installed in the same plane there is a risk of the ball stud being over loaded and breaking. Also as a part of the inspection of these items the dealer will check the torque of the bolts on the track bar. the inspection takes all of about 15 min.

Well, a waste of time. It was that steering damper recall, the clamped on damper or the bolted one. I should have asked like I did when it first came out.
