Hi,

I just replaced my ball joints on my 2005 ram quadcab. I used Moog adjustable upper ball joints and Moog lower ball joints, both with grease fittings. The old ones had 75,000 mi on them and were shot to the point that the truck was pulling real hard to the left and destroying my tryers. Here's my problem... . When I set up the camber to the factory spec of . 50 degree positive on both sides I came up with 12 degrees of positive caster! The book says the caster hould be 2. 5 to 3 degrees positive caster. The best I can adjust it out to is 6 degrees positive caster. Has any one else found this???? Has any one else used these adjustable ball joints? The truck is real touchy seems to be very tender and will scare you when you drive down the road at high way speeds. Toe in is set at 1/8" I also just installed a steering pitment arm shaft stablizer, that seemed to help as a new tierod end on the pitment arm helped everything else is tight, real tight. I was suprised that the ball joints failed so soon, then again with out grease fittings nothing will last... .

Ps Any one have a high pressure jumper fuel line from the comon rail to the head fail (Cyl #4)? Should I buy all of them and keep them under the seat for the future?or was it a one time thing?







2005 Ram Quadcab, 6 speed, stock engine, 3500 front springs for 11/2"lift 315x17 Cooper discoverys.
 
Only thing I can think of is the ball joints were not pressed in correctly. . 025 is the spec I show for camber so maybe try camber there or even 0 to see if the caster swings in closer. If not 6 degrees should work fine. More caster helps it to track staright. I show caster spec at 4. 5 for the swb and 4. 7 for the lwb so 6 I don't think is going to cause your trouble IMO.

I would cut the toe in 1/2 of what you have unless you have wheels that stick way out.



Can't comment on the rail fault, never seen that one.
 
I used a snap-on ball joint removal/ installer tool. There is only one way out and one way in when pressing the joints, so I don't see how there is any way to press them in wrong. Thanks for your thoughts... ...
