I have a bit of a problem with my power steering i think. When i turn the steering wheel, it feels stiff and wont return to center on its own after the turn. It feels like the power steering is weak.

It takes much more to turn the wheel, as if the steering stabilizer was bent, or something is binding. Everything looks straight. No tire wear or low fluid in PW steering. I do notice a rubbing noise on very small steering movements.

Ill be headed to the dealer tomorrow or the next day to have it checked. Its kinda scary when changing lanes and the truck wants to keep turning.

Tire pressures are good.

no difference towing my 9k 5th or empty.

It almost feels as if something is binding in the steering shaft?

Sorry for the length, but any help or similar problems would be helpful.

There is a specific, diagnosable problem associated with a steering wheel that doesn't want to return to center. I don't have my service manual with me right now, but I know I've read something in there about it. IIRC, the problem lies with the steering box. Your dealer should have no trouble fixing this.

well i guess ill find out. Ive read about a few people replacing the steering boxes. Hopefully if this is the problem the new one is an updated one. I only have 8500 on the odometer, never been beat on. Only about 1000 miles with the 5th.

Thanks for the reply.
