Recently my 2004 2500 ram's steering is acting up. When turning either way, but mostly slow and left, it acts as though the power steering is cutting in and out, with alot of feed-back through the steering wheel. Sometimes turning away from a curb is also bad. It seems as though it is getting progressivley worse. Any ideas?

The suspension has a leveling kit and 35's.

My guess is a bad front axle u-joint. Turn the wheels left or right, then jack up the front axle. If the u-joint is binding, you should not be able spin the wheels. If you turn the wheels straight you should be able to spin the wheels.

When my front axle u-joint when out, I first noticed a squeak while backing up and turning. It later exhibited a similar condition as what you described.

I had a steering problem a while back but it was more of a wandering problem that continued to get worse and felt like I was always correcting going down the road. The dealer finally replaced everything power steering related and have not had the problem since. The front end was squeeking as well during quick changes in direction.
