Lately when I make a sharp slow turn on pavement in 2WD I get a lot of "chatter" in the steering wheel that feels like I am in 4WD, but I am not. It is worse turning to left but also feel it slightly to right. Everything feels normal going straight down the road. Gentle turns like lane changes are ok too, just the sharp turns are the problem.

Thanks for any ideas you can throw my way.

I would start with front axle U joints, if they start to seize its more noticeable the sharper you turn. Steering box would be the next item.

I agree with starting with the axle shaft ujoints. Easy way to check is just to put the front of the truck on jack stands and turn the wheels all the way to the left and try to spin them by hand. You'll be able to feel the binding from the offending joint.
