It's probably the same thing I had on my 02. The steering column has a cheap plastic bushing at the top behind the wheel and it gets loose or something causing a clicking or squeak. The dealer replaced my steering column under warranty. All is good now. They can't do anything to the column but to replace it do to it being a safety collapsing column.

Thanks Newlin, i was looking for someplace I had not already read about. I'll take a look in that area and see if there is anything loose there. i willing to try anything at this point.
