Last week I installed the Skyjacker dual in-line steering stabilizer on my truck. The install was fairly simple and only a few basic tools were needed. Yesterday (04-16-04) I finally got to drive the truck and the steering stabilizer works great. I had a Rancho single on before this Skyjacker, but this new one works terrific. The steering wheel is very calm, no movement at all as I drove down the road, even at 80+mph on the expressway. It was a very pleasant surprise. I never had a big issue with vibration or much shimmy, but what little there was is now completely gone. It feels so different driving the truck this way, It caught me off guard. I was not expecting a big change, but it is more then welcome. A big thumbs up.

Hi yknot, install looks great & from your post works well too. ? how did your Rancho single work? I just installed a DSS on my truck and the results were more than expected. I did not realize how much I was chasing the steering wheel (4+" side to side) to keep it on the road. Now next to no input and stright down the road. I am prepairing to pull a new fifth wheel and I plan on changing the damper too. Don't want to add another one just replace the OEM. Thanks, Dave

I like mine, but..

The axle brackets were too small for my Dana 60 on my 3500. Skyjacker told me I had larger military spec axles and their setup wouldn't work on it. I simply used 4" muffler clamps. Worked great.

In all fairness the Rancho single unit had been on for 3+ years, and the truck showed no signs of pull or excessive play. I have always left the stock stabilizer on, it's the OEM that came with the truck. The single helped when it was new, I installed it at the same time I went to the larger tires. The dual unit from Skyjacker is awesome, it completely eliminates any vibration from the road, and the extra force it takes to steer the truck feels good, very tight. Just getting rid of the vibration from the highway is reason enough to get the skyjacker unit, we have some bad roads around here. I like the tight feel of the wheel.

If you have alot of slop in the wheel, a dead space between turning left and right, the steering stabilizer isn't the cure. Most steering boxes have an adjusting screw that can be used to reduce the play.

I'll be ordering the DSS for my truck next month. Is it possible to also have the dual Skyjacker along with the DSS?

I have very narrow, winding, hilly roads where I live and increased steering stability would be GREATLY appreciated. At present, my steering is stock.

Yes you can use the dual stableizers with the DSS and DT trac bar. Look at my reader rig and I have some shots with both, good luck. The dual set up is very helpful.

Just one more note, I'm now running dual Rancho's 5404 and they feel much better than the Skyjacker nitros. The SKJ had a big dead space in them after a year or so. The Ranchos are holding up much better. later.....
