I looking for a new steering stabilizer. I prefer to get a performance one, but can't find anyone who makes one. I've tried Rancho, Bilstien, Rough Country, Edelbrock, etc. Does anyone have a suggestion for one other that the OEM replacement?
I am using the Rancho RS5404 on my '99 4x4 and it installed no problems. Just make sure when you get it that it includes two sets of eye bushings. The one I purchased only had one set (one small one large) so I had to go back to 4 Wheel Parts for the other. The unit uses two of the larger eye bushing sleeves to attach it in place. I noticed the unit gave a much tighter feel to the steering. Heavier but not necessarily bad, as I have gotten used to it.
I purchased one made by gabrial, not the most popular brand. However it is a heavy duty model compared to the stock one and works very well. I have a rancho one on my chev and I can not tell the diference between the two. except for the price $28. 50 for the gabrial and $39. 99 for the rancho. Both carry a lifetime warrenty.
I am running a Rancho RS5000 on my Y2K. The tapered stud which came with the kit wasn't long enough, so I just ground down some of the material for the hex head. This hex head is plenty big enough to lose some material. Works great.
I installed a Rough Country on Saturday. It is about 50% larger than the stock stabilizer and gave the truck a tight (good) sterring feel. I also noticed that the track bar that I installed about three weeks ago was not tight. I tightened it up and along with the stabilizer, I have the best steering "feel" since the truck was new.
Hi Bob, I've tried to e-mail you and it didn't work. Anyway. I have the Skyjacker 7218 Dual steering stabilizer on my truck. The only part I would check prior to installing is the u-bolts for the new bracket. I had to bend the ends in on mine. They should have this fixed by now. Pitman arm pullar is the easy way to get the old one out. Still love that exhaust tone. Sam
