I need a steering stabilizer (dented the one I have). Who makes good ones that fit a 2000? I've looked at Rancho, but their application book says they don't fit a 2000.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks!

I installed a Rancho 5404 on my Y2K. Perfect fit. even came with the needed tapered bolt. 15min max install time.

Rancho's application guide sucks!!! I only lists the 5405 for a Dakota 4x4 to 92, ford 3/4 & 1ton for late 70's, a couple of old land rovers and an old mazda.

lists nothing for 98 & up Rams

I have the same problem like WOT , is there any other company that makes them to where they just bolt up with out any modifications. Mines a 2001. 5

Thanks Mike

I used a Gabriel. Works great and only cost $37 at pep Boys. Afetr spending an evening trying to get the stud off the draglink, I slid a nut over it up to about a half inch from the drag link, and then welded the nut to the stud. Then I took a pickle fork and popped it right off!:D

Just ordered a Pro-Comp stabilizer from 4 Wheel Parts for $27. xx. We will report when it arrives in a couple days. Did not want to take a chance on Rancho as some say they fit and some do not fit.

Thanks for all the posts...

I purchased the Rancho 5404 from Jegs ($36) and the tapered stud is too small (diameter). I will return it tomorrow.

I called a local 4x4 shop (Trails West) & they have a SkyJacker ($31) that is supposed to fit - will pick it up tomorrow & posts the results...

It really boggles the mind that Rancho hasn't gotten smart and just included 1 more stud that fits.

One more note on the Rancho, it's fully compressed length was about 3/4" longer than the stock, but judging from the dirt on the shaft of the stock it didn't ever compress that far.

But the stock one just doesn't have the same "coolness" factor as a pretty white one with red boot!:D

Seriously, I didn't even bother calling for $$, I bet it costs a bunch from Dodge... Anyone called and gotten a price?

is there any difference in the mounting on the various year trucks? if so any ideas on what will easily bolt on to a 99? skyjacker, pro-comp etc? i'm a little leery about getting the old one off to find out a new one doesn't fit properly

Just got the SkyJacker - guess what, same incorrect diameter on the tapered pin. The instructions say on a 2000/2001 to re-use the exiting mounting pin. I guess I will grind off the stamped metal holding the shock washer & just weld it back on after putting the new shock on... . what a way to run a rail-road
