Last fall I changed the lower steering stabilizer with a skyjacker.

Now I want to change the upper stabilizer that has the brackets and u-bolts etc. But, the stock shock is skinny and I'm not sure the skyjacker will fit without rubbing on the pumpkin.

Has anyone done this? Put a larger Skyjacker in that spot? Is this clear?

How 'bout some feed back.

Thanks, Gene Earl

Not sure what you mean by the " upper stabilizer ". I just bent my damper and had to replace it and didn't notice any other dampers in there. Are you talking about the linkage? Or is the 97 that much different than the 98. BTW did you put a cover over the piston of the damper when you changed it out? The guy at Les Schwab told me they don't do anything accept hold water and make things rust.

AC, I had thing backwards, let me try to clear it up. There are two stabilizers on my 97, one is up higher and would be considered OEM. The other is lower and you can see from a standing position. It is attached like an after market with brackets and u-bolts. This is the one I want to replace now. If anyone can give me a Skyjacker part #, that would help.

And yes I did put the Boot on the one I changed. But it makes sense that it would hold water.

Thanks, Gene Earl

Man, just tackled replacing the oem stabilizer this past weekend  Man, did a search and found all ya'lls old tips for getting the tapered stud out. They all failed. Finally cut the danged thing off with a grinder and replace the whole tie rod end. Not a job for the faint at heart!
