Well I broke down and ordered the upgrade from source... . Should be in Monday so I'll try and get that taken care of Monday night. I ordered it with out the pitman arm, I feel there is no way that my suspension will bottom out street driving,so why spend the added 70 bux,,,I'm really getting nervous on the old set up it really loose ... ... .

You NEED the pitman arm. It is a different angle than the original. You will overstress the tie rod end. If you need a better price on one PM me.

Steering components came in and are installed I really dont see any clearence problems on my truck there's a good 8 -9 inches of clearance before contact which the tie rod and that shouldn't happen the truck doesn't go off road. . So I'm not concerned about changing out the pitman arm... . other than that what a major difference seems more responsive now and seems easier to steer now... . runs straight down the road with 1/8" toe in :)

Bob4x4's got it right especially about the angle of the tie rod and the old pitman arm. The new one alleviates that stressful angle. I left mine stock until seeing a friend's new pitman arm. Dodge designed the new pitman to work in harmony with the new steering.

Can someone point out a link to this upgraded steering... might want to replace the OE stuff soon (at 211k).

Thanks!

okay for the kit, but if i read that right, i would need the pitman arm to complete the kit? Correct?

Then what is the, or where to get it, part number?

Im not using the pitman I see no real need for it I have plenty of clearance the the angle isn't far off from my old stuff... . others will disagree but for me I'm saving the 50-70 bux... . I had 2 frame people look at my truck today one was a friend the other is a company I send a lot of trucks to both said the angle wasn't bad at all... I love how it handles now feels more responsive no wonder any more A must have for sure... . price sucks though... I got mine from Source because they install grease zerts.....

Pitman price.

I got my pitman from Mopar4less.com. for $20. 93. part# cbczh461 arm pitman 1902700. Ed asked me if I wanted the $60. 00 one or the $20. 93 one. He said they were identical. I got the cheaper one.

I installed the "kit", the pitnam arm and the steering stablizer about a year ago. The truck steering felt brand new. No more "death wobble" (so far). The tie rod and tie rod ends are much larger and I'm very satisfied with the new parts. The pitnam arm and steering stablizer had to be purchased seprately because they are not part of the "kit". They are however different than the older ones and were manufactured to be compatible with the new "kit". Also there is a new "kit" and the part number ends in "AF". The price from Dodge was $241. I don't know what the difference is in this kit and the old one that the part number ended in "AE".

Is this "kit" the one Source has on their web site for $322 as "2003-2009 Dodge Upgraded Steering linkage"? Will it fit my 1995 4x4? The guy I just talked to at Source said he didn't think it would fit my 2nd gen, but he didn't sound totally convincing. I need to do mine SOON. All is tight in my front end except the steering linkage joints.

TIA... ... ... ..... Bruce

Just put this kit on yesterday and ran into a problem. It does not clear my mag hytec front diff cover when the wheels are all the way to the left. Ended up cutting off all fins on the top half of the dif cover. I also had to reverse the stabilizer bracket and get new ubolts. This is not ideal but didn't have time to fabricate something better. Overall the kit is really stout and obviously a better design. Drives better even without an actual alignment. That is being done today. I got the AF model.

Someone else had that same issue I was reading he had to grind for clearance too... . BTW if you buy from Source tell them you are a TDR member
