I had an adjustment done at the dealer this morninng, and now my steering wheel is rotated a few degrees to the left when driving straight.

I did a search and found that I need to use the Drag Link Adjuster Tube to straighten out the steering wheel. According to the post I read, I need to loosen the adjuster tube and rotate it until the steering wheel is centered.

My two questions are... .

Is it as easy as it sounds ??

And, can it move anything else out of spec, causing me any other problems by messing with this adjuster tube ??

TIA

Jeff

Yes it is as easy as it sounds. Toe adjustment is done with the lower sleeve, on the rod that runs between the knuckles, so you can't disturb anything by adjusting the drag link to center the steering wheel.

alignment ?

Best thing to do as you had dealer align the truck ,take it back and tell them to get it corrected or have them send you to a alignment shop that can and will get it corrected and they pay for the work. Do not pay for a job that is not done to the correct way. Ron Bissett in Metro Louisville KY:confused:

The adjustment that I had the dealer make was for free. I was getting my oil changed ( which is really the only thing I have the dealer do anymore ), and I went in to the service bay to take my oil sample, and starting BSing with the tech. I happened to mention that the truck had a slight pull to the left, so he made a small adjustment to the lower bolt on the front of the driver side control arm. He did mention that the steering wheel might be off center.

But the good news is that it seems to be tracking straight, I REALLY wish I knew more about the steering and suspension on my truck  .

Thanks for the info !

It may be tracking straighter now but what about tire wear etc etc. It sounds like if he knew what he was doing he would have straightened out the steering for you also, it only takes a couple minutes. I would do what Ron said and take it back and have them straighten out the wheel. Then later on check your tire wear. Did they put it on a alignment rack when he did this, I would be weary of a quick fix from what it sounds like he did. Good luck. Oh and the adjustment is very easy if you decide to do it yourself.
