2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission Steering wheel stereo control retro-fit??

I just upgraded from the stock cassette (which wasn't working properly) in my '01 2500 to a new, stock CD/Cassette. I know, I know I could have gone aftermarket, but I like the perfect fit of the stock unit and I got a good deal on it. Anyway, this radio has the plug to accept the steering wheel controls which my truck doesn't have, but I would like to add/retrofit.

1) Can this be done?

2) Anyone know the part numbers?

3) How tough is the install? (Can I do it myself?)
