Hi all. I have a friend with a 2001 2500 4x4 cummins that is trying to break his bank book along with his patience. The problem is the steering won't return to center on it's own. You have to drive it like your running a low tire, constant correction. He has had half the truck checked or replaced with no correction. He had the alignment set 3 times, once with extra camber. New ball joints, checked the amount of pull to turn each wheel left and right with the steering unhooked (in specs). Rotated tires, then put new ones on. Put spacer on R front hub. Replaced the steering stabilizer. Had the box adjustments made as per TSBs, then swapped a box off of a truck that drove like it should onto it. Added a DSS. I may have missed something he had done but the truck still is not right. Any ideas. Thanks in advance. Dan:confused:

The standard alignment specs are pretty broad. Search for the Brent or Brett specs on here and have the alignment set to those numbers. People seem to have had good luck with them.

The dealer reset the alignment on my truck and reduced the caster but it was still within specs and the truck drove like a bathtub on wheels - constant correction. I had them reset it back to the higher end of the caster range and the problem was corrected.
