when i turn my steering R&L the tierod moves up & down, i think this causes 3 problims, 1- wasted motion, 2- premature ware of the tierod ends, 3- exses play in the steering, has anyone noticed this on your trucks, i also think this is a contributing factor in the ( death wobble ), so what do you think, am i nuts or what??

Play in Tie-Rod ends

I noticed play in mine recently, and wound up replacing both ends of the tie rod. Cost about $130 from Dodge, and took maybe an hour. You do need a pickle fork to pull the old ones out. Easy to do, and markedly less looseness in steering.

Last fall I had replaced the track bar, which had showed similar movement, and it made even more difference. $200 or so from NAPA, with lifetime guarantee.

These two and a set of Rancho's sure improved driveability for me.

:)

If you have that kind of play in your tie rods, man you better get those replaced. I have seen many that have come apart . That is bad news, especially if going at highway speeds.
