Attention: TDR Forum Junkies HELP! Just recently there has been a "growling" noise when I turn left or right after about 20 miles or so of driving. At the present time the power steering pump is the main focus. Is this pump getting ready to freeze up?
Has anyone had a similar problem? Any suggested things to look at before start replacing the steering pump? Checked fluid level, good, checked belt tension, good. Did not see any leaks in the hoses to or from the pump.
Any good places to get a new pump if this is to be replaced? The dealer will want an arm and leg.
Truck is a 1998. 5 2500 with 5 speed manual transmission. There is presently about 60K miles on the truck. Do a lot of local stuff which is why the mileage is so low.
