Friends,

This is the wackiest thing I've seen in a while... I checked My Ram App and my truck pic has a winter front on it now... didn't have one a week ago.

It has always been without. Maybe another bad winter ahead. Just thought that was a curious thing to happen.

Cheers, Ron

I use the app a lot... I start it in the house and in a restaurant to cool the inside. I noticed when I was checking odometer and oil percentage when I noticed the blacked grill. looking closer, I noticed it is the winter front.

Time to change oil, fuel filters, and diff fluid.

Does anyone else use the app?

I don't.

I try to use remote start as little as possible (I think it's one of the leading contributors to excessive idle time) so that aspect wouldn't appeal to me, and I have a general idea when maintenance is due and schedule it a month or two in advance.

Are you changing fluids and filters early for a reason, or do you just like to change fluids and filters early?

I'm not worried about excessive idle... I like the truck cool. But, that's why there are options. Because of the high percentage of highway miles I put on this, the two or three minutes of idle for cooling get lost in the wash.

No, not early for changes... I changed late last time... I was towing generators to hurricane devastated areas and had to wait for a pause... no problems going a little over. I forgot to reset the oil minder too. I keep a fuel/maint log, so I also know when to change fluids/filters. Just a cool app.

Just for grins, I loaded all maintenance tasks into my CST2 Monitor and it reminds me when maintenance is due as well. Just some more technology for those who care to use it.

All good though.

Cheers, Ron

No, I don't have any of those modern convinces that tell me when to change my fluids. I just have to rely on my maintenance schedule on my PC. I have done it this way since 2008, when my truck was new.

I try not to excessive idle my own truck but after years of seeing our work trucks idle for 4-8 hours a day through 0deg to 115deg with no issue, I'm not terribly concerned. Its not just a few trucks, its 20-22 trucks with no issue.
