Truck is at dealer to (hopefully) fix a/c...

"Your truck isn't ready; our technicians have been trying to figure out why your clutch makes excessive noise when in neutral and also when clutch depressed but not engaged"

Hmmm.

The SIGNIFICANTLY greater the stock clutch pressure, long travel, and 2nd Gen hydraulics weren't a friggin' HINT?

(twin discs)

/sigh

STEP AWAY FROM THE VEHICLE!

It was NOT in for a noisy clutch! :(

and the one mechanic says to an other " and it's got two of them turbo things"   :-laf

I am my own warrantee station for just that reason.

The early 03's (mine incl. ) had a TSB out for noisy clutch. Turns out I didn't know about it for a few thousand miles, and by that time it stopped making that rattle. In fact I had the service manager there, and I was trying to show him, and it refused to be noisy. Been quiet ever since.

So maybe they were trying to make a "warranty buck" off of Dodge. I thought dealers hate warranty rates?

On second thought, the clutch warranty is only good for 12K, so you need not worry to tell them that you replaced the clutch. It should not void your warranty, since it's your right to replace the clutch with non OEM parts.

Heh. . . once I took my '01 for a flash and after awhile they paged me overhead. When I went to see what they wanted the tech came up to me and excitedly announced "Sir, your lift pump. . . it's missing!!"

You guessed it, it was back by the fuel tank :-laf

I don't use my local dealer for ANYTHING anymore, except I buy oil filters because the parts guys are cool as heck and give me a discount on parts.

However, the (very) few local shops I trust around here I forewarn about my clutch. You outta see their reaction when they hear it! :-laf

Should I be worried about the noisy clutch thing?

Justin, if your's is making noise I would replace it ASAP. :D If you would like I can take it off your hands sinced it is shot. :D

... and a/c+defrost not fixed. Strike Six. lol

Compressor Clutch is intermittent. I'll end up replacing it myself as usual. First time to this dealer for this problem; so not being too hard on them.

I'm worried about the axle wrap (they say cannot be reproduced). I hook a sled and it hops like that I'll be out there with a shovel picking up parts... guess I'll be replacing the rear leafs on my own too. Chrysler Warranties are only slightly better then worthless. Only good if a catastrophic failure on a stock item they can't ignore.

This 2003 has never hooked -- I was hoping to get this stock stuff fixed before getting competition ready.

Bought another truck from them last night; the new one will be staying stock engine/drivetrain.

:-laf

Will have no money left since dumping it all into getting the '03 ready and fixing stuff I'll break. Lack of $$$ will help keep it stock whether I want to or not! :p

Where is the best place to have service done? I need to have a dealer number everytime the truck is serviced. Needs records to maintain warranty. Thanks.
