Jeremiah,

I just took a spin to see the tech that put the boards on. They drill into the cab to bolt them on. Templates for the front and rear bracketscome with the kit. It is a very neat looking install. I would have done it myself if I hadn't made prior arangements. I could have shipped them back if I didn't like the looks (before they were actually installed).

I am interested in the westin oval step bar and went to the local Pep Boys to see if they had them. The parts guy called westin and they said about two more months before their ready. I don't know if that holds true for their other steps or just the ovals.

Jeremiah,

They were dealer installed as part of the arrangement when I ordered the truck. I just went out to the garage and looked under the truck to see how they were installed. There are 3 big brackets holding each board to the body of the truck. I think they used existing holes, but I am not sure. The area the boards are bolted to is pretty rugged and I can't imagine overloading them. They have a black step area that is pretty much the top of the boards and the ends match the contours of the truck looking at them from the side. I had a similiar arangement on my 98 and had no problems with them. I did manage to evade stumps, however;) . My wife really likes them (she insisted on them) and being short, so do I. I would post some pics but I have had no luck figuring out how to do it   .

Appreciate the help. I will certainly consider them when I visit the dealer again tomorrow to have the oil and filter changed. I've had my truck 1 month (ONE MONTH!) and have 4,000 miles on it. We put a lot of miles on a vehicle in Colorado. OK, I went to Arkansas once for a Thanksgiving family reunion, but you get the picture. Thanks again!
