Grrr!!! Somebody pried open the back window of my cab and took my stereo. I am left with a tangle of wires. Does anybody know what the colors correspond to?

Any recommendations for a replacement CD player?

The first presidential candidtate that offers to put all of the meth addicts up against a firing squad has my vote.

here ya go

sorry to hear about your loss. . just installed a new alarm in my rig for that very purpose. . now if i can just figure out how to isolate a 25,000v zapper to zap those assmunches when they try to mess... I`d recommend a JVC head unit, they have a damn good price/feature ratio. I have a 8yr old JVC in my ole' lady's jeep... still kickin. . check ebay for real good deals, dont get ripped off locally. .

anyways heres a basic color code. . pretty sure it covers just about all chrysler/dodge products. .

Thanks-

The dodge wire colors are screwey, but the stereo thief left just enough of the wiring harness behind that I could figure things out.

I got lucky last week-- went to an OSU surplus sale and bid $17 for two cd players. (OSU sells evidence and unclaimed property for police too. ) One is a Kenwood with a self-retracting face. Got it installed and I am happier. I programmed in a code. If it is disconnected from the battery, it will not work until a code is entered.

I cut two dowells to block off the sliding glass windows.

I agree with putting them against the wall. I bought a new radio for my g-friend and put it in her car and some low life stole it . Unfortunately she didn't take the face inside, she left it in the glove box #@$%!. I think the idiots were after the car I had to replace most of the steering column, so instead of stealing the car they took the radio. Luckily they didn't tear up the wires, just the column. When you put in your next radio try this trick, place razor blades along the edges where ever you can. If they try it again they will draw back bloody stubbs. ;)

I want a stereo with an airbag inside it. If someone starts cutting the wires on it, the airbag fires and blasts the stereo through the thief's skull. Then, I think the thief's living relatives should be responsible for purchasing a new stereo and cleaning up the mess.

Hmm I like this idea. The only problem is that the car owner would be paying the thiefs parents because they would have won a judgement againts you in a civil case. There lies the problem.

Eclipse has a 1 or 2 year warranty against theft! I also back-strapped mine in place... it ain't comin' out. it also plays MP3's... nice to be able to fit 250 songs on one disk :D

Forrest <-- recently got my Alpine CD player stolen! :(

Sorry to hear about your loss. Same thing happened to me on my honeymoon back in Washington. Kids took off with a case of wine, WSU Cougar football signed by Drew Bledsoe, sunglass and radio. Took it to Car Toys to have the radio done. I replaced my back glass with a single pane no more rear slider. A little bit more expensive but the Salish Lodge paid for it as it was Valet parked. As far as radio's go I would stick to Alpine. It plays the most scratched cd's and I have been airborne many times and the music still plays without skipping a beat.

My very first car, a Toyota Celica, had a nice aftermarket stereo. The dash was small, so the radio was a underdash modle from Pioneer and I had an equalizer under it(yes this was a long time ago). I had to work in town and park in their large paking lots that were frequented regularly by car theifs. They broke in and attempted to steel the radio, they never got anything but they did mangae to break it all. I noticed how they simply atempted to pull on the radio, and break it free from the mounts, killing the equipment while doing so. So I replaced everything and this time add a row of razor blades to the top/back part of the radio and equalizer, think if they try and do the same thing, at least they will suffer. A few weeks later, I get off work and notice my door is open as I walk up. It must have been the same guy, cause the MO was exatly the same as before, only this time my radio is still there but slightly crooked. The floor mats and seat covers were covered in blood, and i even found a large piece of his finger, that he will miss forever. I don't fell sorry for the guy at all, though I would think twice before doing it today.

Razors not such a good idea

I don't know if I would like the razor idea - just think of all the diseases these scum carry around with them - now you've got a car full of their blood! Not worth it IMHO. It would be nice if you could put a time delay in the radio, so if a code isn't punched in within a certain amount of time, the thing blows up. That way the guy would be far enough away from the car before it blows up and there would be no way of telling where the radio came from (... no officer, I don't know anything about the guy that blew up 200 feet from my truck... ).

Sorry to hear about the theft of the radio - but look on the bright side, you now have a new radio that you have been wanting to get for a long time and finally have a reason to go out there and get one.

Not when I'm dictator-- I'd cull the thief and the parents. In some countries, they send the parents a bill for the execution of their thieving offspring.
