Maybe it is just me, but after over a 100K on my 94 the sterring wheel seems to have more play in it than it used to. I have seen where others have adjusted the sterring gear box to remove some of this, however, I have never seen any instructions. The factory manual, and the Haynes manual are of no help here. I have replaced one lower ball joint, other wise the front end seems to be in good shape. This is a 2WD by the way, no track bar.

My local mechanic will not touch it, which makes me sorta relucant to do anything.

I will start on the KDP tab fix as soon as I can get out to the Cummings place and pick up the parts. Retgretfully we do not know if the pin is still in place or on it's way out.

Thanks in advance for any help on this.

Happy New Year to all.

Steering wheel play

WA, Hey if you are now just starting to have play in the steering you are lucky... I have 20k on mine and have play. Anyway the adjustment procedures can be found on Tech service bulletin 19-10-97 on http://www.dieselram.org under TSB's.

Do a search on TDR and there is an extensive threads on this subject. Hope this helps.

Good luck!Oo.

Have someone wiggle the steering wheel while you look for play in the joints and the steering box itself. There is an over center adjusting nut/stud on top of the box, but don't tighten the stud very much at a time if you find the play is in the box.
